City Salary Benchmark
₹36,267/month
PLFS 2025 mean monthly wage or salary for regular salaried workers in Greater Mumbai Municipal Corporation, men and women combined.
Official source · contextual evidence · not a calculation input
Compare the same one-adult household at three salaries. The payroll estimate is available; affordability stays withheld until valid rent and Essential Living Costs are entered.
Data checked 28 July 2026
Greater Mumbai salary evidence is available for context. The published City Cost Profile leaves rent and Essential Living Costs blank because the reviewed sources did not pass the coverage and permission rules. The page therefore fails its city indexability gate and remains outside discovery and the sitemap.

User entry required for affordability outputs
The benchmark covers Greater Mumbai Municipal Corporation. The same MoSPI report treats Navi Mumbai, Thane, Kalyan-Dombivli, and Vasai-Virar as separate cities. It is a survey mean across workers, occupations, industries, employers, and sexes. It is not CTC, take-home pay, a professional salary, or household income.
The comparisons use the same RupeeReality Baseline Household at every salary: one salaried adult living alone in a rented 1BHK, with no dependants and no EMI. This is a modelling choice, not an observed Mumbai household or a claim about a typical resident.
Salary benchmark: MoSPI, Labour Market Dynamics in Million-plus Cities, Table 8, Appendix B-28, PDF page 102 . Observation period: January to December 2025. Published 29 June 2026. Checked 28 July 2026; scheduled for review by 29 June 2027. Reproduction is limited to the attributed MoSPI aggregate under its public reproduction policy.
Rent: Magicbricks, NoBroker, and Housing.com sources were rejected because the available material did not meet the required combination of municipal geography, 1BHK configuration, furnishing/property detail, stable method, dates, and reuse permission. Public access alone is not permission to republish proprietary listing data.
Essential Living Costs: no eligible range was found. State consumption estimates and individual prices remain reasonableness context only. They are not combined into a synthetic Mumbai budget.
The complete review is recorded in the project's Mumbai evidence note. A later source must pass the same coverage, provenance, permission, freshness, and expiry checks before it can seed a result.
Shared City Cost Profile
One salaried adult living alone in a rented 1BHK, with no dependants and no EMI. Mumbai rent and Essential Living Costs are not prefilled when no reviewed source passes the coverage and reuse-permission checks.
